NEWS:
Dragon 32/64
1) Julian Brown has put up a poll on the Dragon Facebook group about what
option people would want for handling registers and memory mapping for
sprites on his upcoming board:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/dragon32/posts/4437137356545899/
He also mentioned that he has the audio sub-system in place, including
the AY sound trip and also his decision on how to handle the character
ROM for his VDG implementation:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/dragon32/posts/4436578166601818/
He also released a video update #2 on his sound/VDG combo board:
https://youtu.be/fs5trHjt1Vg?si=2y6zEOYje-R1JzoX
Coco 1/2/3 (and multi-platform)
1) Allen Huffman did a new blog post revisting PUT defined by ASCII strings,
in this case to draw a tank graphic facing 4 directions:
https://subethasoftware.com/2026/06/09/revisiting-put-defined-by-ascii-strings/
He also put up a very brief blog teaser for a new game project he is
working on, called Backrooms:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/2359462640/posts/10164379410777641
2) Brian Palmer posted a screenshot (and upload I presume, but Facebook’s
“newest” posts option for the Coco group has disappeared) of an early
Coco 3 graphic done in BASIC from Australian Coco magazine:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/2359462640/posts/10164371996542641/
3) Mauricio Matte (one of our Brazilian friends) posted another update to
his Coco File image utility (version 1.0.60). After recently adding OS-9
disk image support, he has now also added support for Fujinet servers
(post includes a video demonstration):
https://www.facebook.com/groups/2359462640/posts/10164379410777641/
4) Paul Cunningham posted an update to his adding 6 bit sound to his port
of Space Warp from the TRS-80 Model I, where he thinks he has most of the
problems solved for inserting the sound into the main game loops (ie not
interrupt driven):
https://www.facebook.com/paul.cunningham/posts/pfbid02cy3HMHBJ3ZjEkm8h3AW8S161cYNkdYKnpqNf4T15E18N9vKfdU2ztNeemtNbNNx5l
5) Robert Sitton posted a video, download and description of his Dungeons
of Dagobah, which he calls a 3D homage to Dungeons of Daggorath reimagined
as a Star Wars descent:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/2359462640/posts/10164378813127641/
6) Carlos Camacho released both a screen shot & download of his version of
the Amigo Boing demo. He is still working on updates from the sounds of it,
including adding the ball shadow:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/2359462640/posts/10164372838457641/
Download (includes video in comments):
https://www.facebook.com/groups/2359462640/posts/10164370573447641/
7) Don Sorenson posted about his RGB to HDMI converter that he installed,
and weirdly that he tried several USB-C bricks to power it, but only an
iPhone charger was able to so without adding image noise:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/2359462640/posts/10164365442707641/
8) John Linville posted a link to a comparison of C compilers for the 6809
done by Roger Boesch as part of a Vectrex project that he is working on. It
compares the outputs of the same C code using CMOC, VBCC and GCC6809 for
both speed and smallest size:

9) George Everett is looking for some help in archiving a box of 5.25”
FLEX floppies, as he has no hardware capable of reading them. Any takers?

10) For those interested, the Glenside Color Computer Club’s June 2026
business meeting is up on YouTube:
https://www.youtube.com/live/jPeMEnIRi2U?si=asjExJuR6mCgSj9P
11) I don’t fully understand this quick video clip, but it looks like
someone may be trying to make a King Tut clone on a more modern machine?
https://youtu.be/nlQexuSl_7U?si=harxqfTjOuKSl03M
12) Grant Bloedow posted a video update about his CoCoPortal Pre release,
which I believe is a launcher program for running emulators, to directly
run apps (rather than just booting a virtual machine and having the
user do everything manually) as well as access magazines, books and
more. It also allows debugging, syntax/opcode highlighting and more for
developers. Grant’s description:
“Here’s another look as it is coming together a bit more. I’ve added a
development environment that is just fresh with a debugger, memory view
and console log. The goal is to have CMOC, BASIC, BASIC09 and 6809/6309
ASM programming with syntax or opcode highlighting and immediate feedback
with a compile and run into the emulator panel. PDF viewing and searches
(I may have to reindex the full-text search), Magazines, tech papers, spec
sheets, books and manuals. Software with immediate and saved configurations
for each title. Metadata that lets you click into the new results that
match the data “chip” such as year, publisher, author, genre. Profiles of
people in the community, programmers, publishers, development houses. All
have links directly to the content that relates to them.”

13) French YouTube channel Olipix goes through a newspaper format computer
magazine called Hebdogiciel, which includes a Dragon 32 program listing
(turn CC on and auto-translate):
https://youtu.be/YGVNLCHcPlE?si=pa3dSaEDunvXFFU5
Dragon program:
https://youtu.be/YGVNLCHcPlE?si=BHmljoMpHq27cMDN&t=865
14) Lee Perkins released a video update on his Coco 3 port of Montezuma’s
Revenge:
https://youtu.be/1gn1Sbj3HMU?si=fR6E-h009d3LVv09
15) Tyler Durden did a test of his Coco 3 BASIC BurgerTime game with
“background” music at the same time as some opponents, but it is
running too slow:
(Show BTIME12.MP4)
Removing the music sped things up enough to make it playable (although a
large number of opponents may slow things down too much):
(Show BTIME13.MP4)
He later did another video update which shows the added ability of crushing
your enemies:
(Show BTIME14.MP4)
